Special powers: Nataku's powers are control over this long ribbon, which he can create shields out of and use as a weapon. Oh, and he jumps really high too.
Pre-X History: Nataku was a clone created by "his" grandfather Tojyou, using pieces of Kazuki's body as well as her father's. Kazuki originally was a little girl, the daughter of Masaki, but when she fell ill and died, Masaki and Tojyou decided that they would find a way to bring her back to life. Masaki sacrificed his life to bring her back, and Tojyou created Nataku, named after the androgynous god of Chinese Mythology. Oddly enough, Nataku has access to some of Kazuki's memories, but at the start of X, is seen as a cold, heartless person – he's not supposed to feel or dream, yet when he first sees Fuuma he remembers his father.
Canon X History: When we start X, we see Nataku in the Monou's shrine, attempting to take the Shinken from Fuuma's father. He succeeds at this, and kills old man Monou [oops!] then takes the blade back to his grandfather. The next time we see Nataku he's in a genetic tank, with the scientists checking his vitals; apparentlyhe has no soul, and that is why he was named Nataku [also to not he has no sex, so I'm simply referring to him as "he" due to appearance.] It's five volumes before we see him again, when Satsuki hacks into the Tojyou Pharmaceuticals database and gets Nataku's data, then Fuuma goes after his Angel. Fuuma tells Nataku that now that they can keep him alive, he can destroy the lab – and destroy it he most certainly does, squishing people left and right with good measure! He impales his grandfather with his hand [in typical X fashion] before leaving. In volume 12 we find out about Nataku's past [see Pre-X History] and that the original Kazuki [the little girl] was supposed to be a Dragon of Earth, yet somehow the clone Nataku managed to end up with that fate. In volume 18, Nataku attacks Ginza [where Aoki and Karen are] yet he will not attack Karen or Aoki; when Karen interfears he asks her to step aside so e doesn't have to hurt her. Karens speaks to him so kindly, telling him how he must have emotions even though no one else believed he did, and she calls him a child. "You may be tall, but you are still a child." This is also the volume where Karen tells Nataku how he must have been loved, and Nataku admits he's only an angel so he can stay close to Fuuma because he loves him. Fuuma tests Nataku's wish, and Nataku saves Karen from death, and she tells him he must make a choice. Fuuma tests again, and the second time Nataku saves Karen from death, Fuuma kills him as it is his "true wish." "To protect the one he cared about the most, and die by the one he loved the most, that was his wish," Fuuma says. He saw Karen as his mother, and Fuuma as his father. Before his death, Nataku told Karen that Princess Hinoto told his grandfather about the End of the World.
Personality: Nataku comes off as very cold and emotionless, yet he is softer when he's around Fuuma [who he sees as his father] and Karen [who reminds him of his mother]. It was how Karen treated Nataku that allowed him to realize that he truly was human inside, and that was why he sacrificed his life for her.
Appearance: Nataku stands rather tall, around 6' [one would assume], with silver/lavender hair and pale skin. He has three marks on his forehead that are violet in color [and are, interestingly enough, the symbol for Tojyou's genetic engineering company]. His typical outfit [or, at least the outfit we see him in during his death] is a white Chinese robe with lavender accents and a black undershirt. His outfits generally tend to be Chinese in nature.
